CMP report for the month of April 2011

Following are the details of various activities conducted in KV2, Hubli under CMP for the month of April 2011.

         TLMs

TLM fund was not used this month and no purchases have been done in this regard as the teachers have used the TLMs prepared during the last session.  Other TLMs such as pamphlets, posters, geometrical shapes, etc. have also been .

    CCA

For the session 2011-12, the Primary students have been divided into 4 Houses namely, Himalaya, Neelgiri, Aravalli and Vindyachal. In the first week of April, the students were divided into 4 groups equally based on the talents and interests by the class teachers and then by lottery method, house masters and their respective houses were formed. A meeting was conducted by all the House masters with the students to know them well.

The first activity under CCA was English Story telling conducted on 29.04.2011, wherein students showcased their talents and speaking skill and also presented the stories very well.

      Sports

On account of Sports Day to be held on 06.05.2011, students participated in various Sports activities ranging from Skipping, Lemon and spoon race, Running race, Sack race to Tennis Ball throw, Discuss throw, Shot put throw. Besides this, the students also practiced Drill exercises.

These games were full of enjoyment, fun, sportsman spirit, enthusiasm and active participation by the students. These not only enabled them to showcase their talents but also gave them an opportunity to get an exposure to such games. The Prize Distribution Ceremony for the II and III position holders was done on 05.05.2011, and winners would be awarded their certificates and medals on Sports Day.

     Assembly

The Assembly Programmes in this session are conducted class wise for the whole week starting from Class X. So, the Primary students have not presented the Assembly this month. However, they have actively participated in the assembly for playing musical instruments and have learnt and practiced Community songs during the assembly.

Book Fair

A book fair was organised in the Vidyalaya premises. A great variety of books were on display for viewing and purchasing. The Primary students actively witnessed the fair. They were delighted to see the range of books available and also purchased a few books.

    Science Exhibition

A Science Exhibition was also organised in the Vidyalaya premises in the month of April. The exhibition displayed numerous pictures of birds, animals, endangered species and also a PowerPoint presentation. The exhibition exposed the students to the beauty of nature and also sensitised them towards the increasing fall in the number of animals. Primary students were taken class wise to the exhibition where they were spell bound to see the pictures and also noticed various features of different animals and birds.

    Community Lunch

               Community lunch was organised for Primary classes on 25.04.2011. The students shared their lunch with their class mates. This not only added to their friendship bond but also made them taste a variety of dishes. The students had a great fun eating together.

        CMP report for the month of July 2011

 After the relaxing summer break the students of Vidyalaya joined back the school on 28/06/2011 in full energy & spirits.

The months of June-July witnessed a wide range of activities, for both students & faculty members.

Morning Assembly: Students participated in the morning assembly with full spirit & connected themselves to the almighty. Some also participated in playing of instruments for the assembly programme. A girl of class-IV was also awarded consolation prize for ABACUS ( mental maths) national level competition during assembly.

CCA: Many out door & indoor activities were conducted under CCA in this month. Various competitions such English calligraphy, Drawing & Painting competition, Solo singing competition were conducted successfully. These competitions enabled the students to showcase & enhance their creative$ expressive skills. Events such as English Calligraphy , Drawing & Painting provided an opportunity to every student to participate  in the competitions & helped in achieving the objective of mass participation.

TLM’s: Many TLM’s were purchased & used by teachers to facilitate their teaching- learning process & enhance its effectiveness, such as chart papers , colour papers,  straws , glue graph papers  thermocol sheets sketch pens etc. However, the funds for the same have not yet sanctioned due to absence of Principal.

 Class room activities & projects: Numerous activities were conducted in the class rooms 7 resource room to enable students to understand various concepts. The activities included preparing of ORS, sorting of different seed, team games story building, quizzes, puzzles, mental ability tests, making fish aquarium

 Community Lunch:  Community Lunch was enjoyed and appreciated by students of all classes, wherein they not only liked eating different varities of food items, but also discussed about their recipes and ingredients.

 Teachers’ Orientation and Development Programme: A 5- days long programme, for 1 hour a day was conducted for teachers to orient the new teachers and also familiarize all the faculty members with new Examination pattern by the Examination Incharge. It was followed by sessions on Competency based teaching in all subjects taken by various faculty members of Primary Department.

 Worksheets : Another TDP was conducted for teachers to discuss the pattern of worksheets and selection of questions based on various competencies. For this, the teachers were divided into groups, and they discussed and prepared worksheets fro different subjects. Substantial amount of Classwork and Homework is given in the classes. Also, 1 worksheet/ week is conducted for all subjects in all the classes.

 Resource Room Development: The Resource room was given a new look by all the teachers of Primary Department. All teachers were divided into four groups and were one corner according to the subject. All the TLMs prepared and used by the teachers were exhibited in these corners according to different subjects.

Formative Assessment 1: FA-1 was conducted for all classes from 25/7/11 to 28/7/11 in the school premises. For this, question papers were prepared with thorough discussion with the parallel teachers well in advance and revision was done in the classes.

MINUTES OF CMP MEETING

                         A session was conducted in resource room for the primary teachers to apprise them with the new examination scheme for primary students & orient the newly appointed teachers with respect to teaching-learning practices in the school. The session was taken up by Mrs. Shailaja N.K. primary in charge in resource room from 12:20pm to 1:30pm.

The following points were disused in it. 

  • All teachers were suggested to purchase TLM’s every month based on the syllabus and relevance, within price limit of Rs.200 each and that they should ensure that they bring the bill with TIN number. 

  • The scheme of assessment for FA/SA ( in all subjects) were discussed in detail, describing the various competencies, type of assessment and number of questions of different weightages. Teachers were guided on how to prepare question paper and observe students while they participate in classroom activities. 

  • Teachers were guided on preparation & maintenance of teacher’s diary & filling of various columns in it. The new format of lesson plan was also shared. 

  • They were told to maintain activity portfolio wherein they are required to maintain records of all worksheets, activity/ projects conducted TLM’s etc. 

  • Teachers were instructed to conduct atleast one worksheet per week in each subject in each class & suggestions were given for preparation of the same. 

  • Teachers were told to inform students of Classes III-V to maintain student portfolio were they can keep all the worksheets and projects. However teachers to maintain the student portfolio for Classes I & II, student wise in separate files.  

  • Teachers were guided on how to maintain record of FA-2/4. 

  • The new format of Anecdotal record was discussed. 

  • The teachers were told to follow and refer split-up syllabus to plan diary, cover syllabus and conduct activities. 

  • All the teachers were directed to have lunch with the children of their class and to arrange community lunch once in a fort night. 

The session proved to be very informative & guiding for all the teachers.

This was followed by subject-wise sessions wherein Competency Based Teaching & Evaluation in various subjects & type of questions to be taken up based on various competencies was discussed in detail with illustrative examples. Font size & style to be used & presentation of paper were also told.
